In The Media » Jonathan Bullock MEP hails Bombardier contract
DERBY MEP Jonathan Bullock has expressed his delight after news broke that the city's train-maker Bombardier had won a £73m order from Transport for London.
The boost was for five more Bombardier Aventra trains to be used on the new Elizabeth line in the capital.
Mr Bullock said: "This is great news for Derby and indeed, for the whole of the East Midlands and the UK itself.
"Hats off to all those at Bombardier, who will play a crucial role in the development of this new line in London.
"We were told by the Remain camp that British industry would whither and die after the Brexit vote. Once again, a great company, based here in the UK, has proved the doubters wrong. We can look forward to the future with optimism."
